Mpraeso (E/R), Aug.20, GNA – Mr Joseph Omari, District Chief Executi= ve (DCE) for Kwahu South, has emphasized the need for supporters and members o= f the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to unite in order to retain power in 2012. He said party supporters must guard against all negative and divisive tendencies and work for unity at all times in order to remain focused, resolute and committed to the ideals of the party. Mr Omari made the call at an emergency meeting of NDC supporters and the members of the United Cadre’s Front (UCF) of the party at Mpraeso. The meeting was aimed at addressing some of the challenges confronting the party and also to discuss some developmental projects the assembly was undertaking in the area.
He reminded the NDC supporters that it was only through reconciliation and unity that would ensure their victory in 2012 elections. Mr Omari said it was important for them to solidify the party structures for each unit to execute its functions towards victory in 2012. He reminded them that it was the resilience and commitment of cadres and the general supporters of the party that we could capture power from th= e New Patriotic Party (NPP) and that nothing should be done to lose power to them again.
He appealed to all members of the NDC to avoid petty squabbles and go into the elections with all seriousness so as to mobilize more people to join the party.
Mr Omari said since the NDC took over power over the last two and half years the Kwahu South District had benefited a lot in terms of development projects ranging from education, health, sanitation, agriculture and road construction and urged the supporters to spread the good things about the government. He said now that the congress was over and the party had re-elected President Atta Mills, everybody should support and rally behind him to retain power in 2012.
Mr Omari commended supporters of the party in the area for the continuous support to the party and said considering the nature of the 2012 elections, it would be important for them to adopt what he termed as “neighbour to neighbour” campaign to explain the good policies and programmes of the government to the people.
