Kwahu Abene youths bonded to be of good behavior

Fourteen persons mostly youth from Kwahu Abene, of the Kwahu Traditional Area, have signed a bond to be of good behavior for six months or in default serve six month imprisonment before the Mpreaso Circuit Court.

The accused persons were charged with offensive conduct, causing unlawful damage and breach of peace.

The suspects who are malnly farmers pleaded not guilty to the charges and were granted GH? 8,000.00 bail each to re-appear before the court on June 11.

The suspects included, Dickson Boateng, Kwame Agyare, Kwahu Boamah, Kwabena Sika, Kwaku Safo, Kwaku Kunadu, Kwame Isaac and Moses Djan.

Others are, Ama Rose, Kwabena Adueni, Yaa Badu, Yaw Takyi, Kwame Baah and Adjwoa Hana.

A bench warrant was issued for the arrest of Kwabena Sika, Kwabena Adueni and Yaw Takyi for failing to appear before the court.

Prosecuting, Detective Police Chief Inspector Christian Apronci told the court presided over by Ms Mariam Saleh Sinare that from April 21- April 30, the 14 persons came together to rain insult on the Akyeamehene of Abene, Nana Asiedu Kwabeng II and the Krontihene, Nana Simpeh Wiredu III.

He said they also threw stones into the house of the Akyeamehene which caused damage to some roofing sheets and louvre blades worth GH? 1,000.00.

The prosecutor said, on the night of April 24, the suspects poured faeces on the veranda of the Krontihene with the intent to breach the peace in the town.

The presiding judge advised the accused persons to go and ensure peace in the town since the town has not known calm since the burial of the late Kwahu Manhene, Daasebre Akuamuah Boateng II about six months ago.

The Kingmakers of the Kwahu Traditional Council are having a challenge in nominating a successor to the late Omanhene.
