Kwaebibirem District Assembly to redouble efforts for development

Kade, Mar. 1, GNA – The Kwaebibirem District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Yaw Yiadom-Boakye, has called on members of the Assembly to redouble their efforts to accelerate the pace of development in the district. He noted that for the past four years, the Assembly had focused more on physical development but in order to fulfil government’s policy of human resource development, the Assembly would shift its focus onto area and job creation. The DCE made the observation at the First Ordinary Meeting of the Third Session of the Fourth Assembly of the Kwaebibirem District Assembly at Kade. He said the provision and the rehabilitation of education and health facilities, feeder roads, good drinking water and sanitation structures, scholarship for teachers and nursing trainees, granting of loans for farmers and commercial activities were some of the Assembly’s priorities.

Mr Yiadom-Boakye said the Assembly would put more resources and efforts in these structures to uplift the standard of living of the people in the district and therefore called on the Assembly members to come out with proposals that would help develop the human resource and income-generating activities. He mentioned a number of projects, which had been completed under the Assembly’s share of the Common Fund, HIPC Initiative and the Social Investment Fund (SIF). In another development, the Assembly re-elected Mr George Aboagye as the Presiding Member for a second two-year term of office.

Mr Aboagye, who is also the District Secretary of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) thanked the members for renewing their confidence in him and assured them of his dedication to the cause of the Assembly towards the accelerated development of the district. He congratulated President J.A. Kufuor and the MPs for Akwatia, Mr Ofosu Asamoah and Mr Kingston Kissi.
