Kwaebibirem District Assembly Members to wear Ghanaian attire only

Kade (E/R), June 15, GNA – The Kwaebibirem District Assembly has resolved that with immediate effect, members will put on only Ghana-made clothes during Assembly meetings.

The Assembly adopted a resolution to back the decision at its general meeting at Kade on Wednesday.

The District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Yaw Yiadom-Boakye, speaking in support of the resolution, explained that it was meant to be the district’s contribution to the promotion of the national wear. The decision is perhaps the first by a District Assembly to give a further boost to the campaign by the Ministry of Trade, Industry, Private Sector and President’s Special Initiative (PSI) to promote the wearing of national costume on Fridays.

Mr Yiadom-Boakye urged all Assembly staff to put on national wear at least twice a week, including Fridays.
