Kwabre West Constituency NPP elects new executive

Kodie (Ash), Jan 22, GNA – The Kwabre West Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has elected new officers at the party’s delegates conference held at Kodie.

The position of Chairman could not be contested for because of a court injunction placed on one of the two contestants, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah. The 315 delegates elected Mr Kwadwo Agyemang as first Vice Chairman while Mr Samuel Kwadwo Adutwum became second Vice Chairman. The others were Mr Benjamin Owusu-Nsiah, Secretary, Mr George Best, Treasurer, Christian Adu-Poku, Assistant Secretary, James Adjei, Organizer, Richard Appiah-Kubi, Youth Organizer, and Ms Beatrice Owusu, Women’s Organizer.

The election, supervised by the Electoral Commission, was held up for some hours as supporters of Odeneho Appiah angrily protested and sought clarification for the court injunction from the party’s regional executives present.

Dr Kwabena Asubonteng, NPP Ashanti Regional first Vice-Chairman and Madam Elizabeth Agyeman, Member of Parliament for Oforikrom, jointly swore the new executives into office. Mr Owusu-Nsiah pledged that the new officers would work as a team to strengthen the party’s support base and return the NPP to power. 22 Jan. 10
