Kwabena Agyepong misquoted vice president -Mahama

The government has said that Mr Kwabena Agyepong, a son of one of the three judges murdered in 1982, misquoted the vice president about what he said at last Tuesday’s press conference on “statute of limitation.”

A statement signed by Mr John Mahama, Minister of Communications, said Vice President John Atta Mills never said there is a statute of limitation on murder. “The Vice President never said any such thing. What the Vice President said was that after 20 years, memories could have become blurred and that is why in law, sometimes, there is what is called statute of limitation.”

The statement said Prof. Mills never stated that statute of limitation applied to criminal cases, or that it applied in the specific case of the murder of the judges and retired army officer.

“The Vice President is too knowledgeable in law to have made such an elementary mistake,” it said
