Kwabena Agyapong launches bid to unseat Sir John

Ex-President Kufuor’s former Press Secretary, Kwabena Agyapong, has launched his bid to contest the General Secretary position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming congress.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, Mr Agyapong said he believes strengthening of the grassroots of the party is paramount in capturing power from the ruling NDC in the 2016 elections.

“I believe my record in public service is there for all to see, am dedicated in uniting our party because the things that unite us far supersedes the few things that divides us,” Mr Agyapong said.

He added that “our party has been taking some propaganda bashing from our opponents but every true patriot knows that we are the party that governs better and perhaps it is time for us to learn how to win elections as well”.

Mr. Agyapong who was one of the 17 presidential aspirants in 2007 said his decision to contest for the General Secretary position of the NPP is no way a decline in his political ambitions.

Kwabena Agyepong will be contesting others like Yaw Boaben Asamoah, Nkrabea Effa Darteh and incumbent Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie aka Sir John.
