Prophet Kumchacha has strongly criticised the decision to involve Nana Agradaa’s teenage daughter in a public emotional appeal for her mother’s release, calling it “irresponsible” and potentially damaging to the child’s future.
The backlash follows the circulation of a viral video on July 19, 2025, in which the girl tearfully pleaded with the court to show mercy and free her mother, who is serving a 15-year sentence for defrauding members of her church. In the video, the teenager spoke of the emotional toll her mother’s absence has had on her life, appealing directly to the public and judiciary.
But the use of a minor to front such a sensitive campaign has sparked controversy, with Prophet Kumchacha, known for his outspoken views, posting a scathing critique a day later.
“Asiamah, be sensible,” Kumchacha said, directly addressing Agradaa’s husband, Angel Asiamah, whom he suspects of orchestrating the video. “There are a lot of people in Nsawam prison for stealing. Some are even there in jail for stealing a tuber of cassava. If you want public sympathy, all you need is a good lawyer.”
He warned that exposing the young girl to such public scrutiny could have lasting psychological and reputational effects.
“Don’t you know you are destroying the small girl’s future? She is even a minor. Involving her in this issue can destroy her life because social media doesn’t forget,” Kumchacha added.
The video’s release has reignited national conversations around children’s rights, privacy, and the ethics of involving minors in legal battles playing out in the public eye.
While some sympathise with the family’s emotional distress, many agree with Kumchacha that legal appeals should be handled through proper judicial channels—not through emotionally charged social media campaigns that place minors in the spotlight.
