Kumbungu GES gets support

The Tahima Baptist Child Development Programme (TBCDP) has presented two desktop computers and a printer, valued at GHC6,761.63, to the Kumbungu District Directorate of the Ghana Education Service.

The gesture is to help in the effective administration of educational programmes, to enhance teaching and learning, as well as improve academic performance in the district.

Mr James Amadu, the Programmes Manager of TBCDP, who handed over the items, explained that the donation was part of other initiatives, such as sponsorship for brilliant children, child health education, nutrition, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) programmes, as well as strengthening community organisations to complement government efforts towards quality education.

Mr Amadu urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the machines, and ensure their regular maintenance for sustainability.

He hinted that similar assistance would be made to some schools in the region.

He gave the assurance that the organisation would continue to liaise with the GES to organize educational programmes, to enhance teaching and learning in the rural areas.

Madam Hawa Yussif Pont, the District Director of Education, who received the items, commended the organisation for the support, and said it was one of the major challenges slowing down their operations in the area.

“The items have come at the right time because we are in the era where computer is critical to good work, which would help us in record keeping as well as effective monitoring and supervision”, she said.

Madam Yussif called for more support, especially in the training of teachers, to teach Information and Communication Technology (ICT), to enable the children to have the same opportunity as their counterparts in the cities.
