Kumasi, Jan 15, GNA- The Kumasi Railway Police have placed Kwame Twumasi-Mensah, a 59-year-old man, in custody for allegedly defiling his 16-year-old daughter at Buokrom Junction, a suburb of Kumasi. Twumasi-Mensah is alleged to have covered her daughter’s mouth with his left hand and used the right one to remove her panties and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her at dawn.
A police source that briefed the Ghana News Agency on Thursday said on November 29, last year, Twumasi-Mensah, who stays in the same house with the daughter, entered her room at dawn and hit her with a stick to wake her up.
He said the suspect quickly covered the mouth of the victim, who is a JSS two pupil and forcibly had sex with her. In the morning Twumasi-Mensah gave documents covering his house to the victim in an attempt to prevent her from mentioning the incident to anybody.
The source said the victim fell sick and reported her father’s conduct to her mother who is no longer married to the suspect. He said the mother took her to the hospital where it was detected that the victim’s hymen had been broken. The source said, the mother later reported the matter to the police who arrested the suspect.
