About 50 suspected criminals have been arrested and a large quantity of dried leaves believed to be cannabis seized in a police swoop in parts of the Kumasi Metropolis.
These areas included Alabar, Asafo, Amakom and Anlo-Fante New Town. This comes amid step-up efforts to reduce down crime in the city and assure residents of their security.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ampofo Duku, Deputy Ashanti Regional Commander, who led the operation, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the suspects would be screened and those found to be criminals prosecuted.
The police, he said, would stop at nothing to arrest and to bring to justice miscreants who cause misery to the law abiding.
He, therefore, cautioned them to give up on their bad ways in their own interest.
