Kumasi: Man arrested for selling ‘weed candies’

Police in Kumasi in the Ashanti region have arrested a 30-year-old drinking bar operator for selling toffees manufactured with weed.

Kofi Adu, popularly known as “Odi Sika”, was arrested at Ahensan, a suburb of Kumasi.

According to the regional Police Command, “Odi Sika” was arrested in the process of manufacturing his products.

A search conducted in his bar revealed 188 pellets of the toffees on sale to unsuspecting customers.

The Deputy Ashanti regional Police Commander ACP Ampofo Doku who disclosed the arrest to the media Wednesday said the regional command is determined to rid the region of the drug trade.

“Our intelligence hinted us that he was selling toffees made of a substance suspected to be cannabis so personnel of the drug enforcement unit went there and arrested him in the act,” he stated.
