The cause of the fire is not yet known but reports indicate that the fire is fast spreading to other shops.
According to reports, several shoppers and traders are trapped in the market as personnel from the National Fire Service are yet to arrive at the scene.
However, Police officers currently at the scene are helping to ensure that shoppers and traders are protected.
