Kuga-Fong Association appeals for help for disaster victims

Mr Muhammed Abdul-Samed Gunu, Executive Director of Kuga-Fong Community Association, a non-governmental organization in the Savelgu/Nanton Municipality of the Northern Region, has appealed to organizations to help persons affected by rainstorm in the area.

He said the unfortunate disaster had rendered people homeless and brought hardship to the affected households.

A statement copied to the Ghana News Agency on Sunday said the affected communities had their farms destroyed.

It said the farmers were contemplating how to prepare for the next farming season when another disaster hit them putting them in a distress situation.

The statement said there was therefore the urgent need to help rehabilitate and resettle the affected persons.

It said public and private schools were not also left out by the disaster. Many buildings had their roofs ripped-off.

The statement said if urgent attention was not taken to rehabilitate affected school buildings in time, it could adversely affect the already fallen standards of education in the area.
