Kufuor’s victory is triumph for democracy – Evangelist

Anloga (V/R), Jan. 6, GNA – An Accra-based international evangelist and pastor of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Pastor Emmanuel D. Poakwah has described the result of the December 7 polls as a remarkable triumph for democracy in Ghana.

He urged all Christians and religious organizations to really behind the President elect and pray for him because he was appointed by God to lead the people and the nation.

Pastor Poakwah was delivering a sermon at the annual camp meeting of the Seventh Day Adventist Church at the Anlo Technical Institute at Anloga in the Volta Region to round of a weeklong prayer, fasting and healing.

According to the evangelist, Ghana had been a pacesetter for the democratic governance and the torchbearer of African nationalist movements in the early sixties so the outcome of the December polls had confirmed that Ghanaians were peace loving, God fearing and always prepared to correct their mistakes.

Pastor Poakwah who is also Sabbath School Director in Accra, called on the President elect not to be complacent over his victory but to show fairness and equity in the distribution of the national cake to areas where he polled the least votes.

Over 400 Adventists from 15 churches in the Keta, Akatsi, Ketu and Jasikan district attended the weeklong revival as well as 17 elders and 3 renowned pastors and evangelists.

At the end of it all, about twenty new converts were taken through Bible teaching and baptism. Many who were afflicted with strange diseases also received healing.
