Kufuor?s advisors eye Tourism

The Ghana Investors Advisory Council has identified tourism as one area through which the country can reduce poverty.

The advisors ay the area is also a sure way to improve the economy.

In a communiqu? issued at the end of their meeting in Akosombo, members of the council asked government to do everything to develop the country?s tourism potentials.

The council has also asked government to work on reforming five other areas.

These are the financial sector, labour, land, customs, the civil service and agriculture.

Minister for Private Sector Development Kwamena Bartels says the recommendations were made to develop infrastructure to boost tourism

?They agreed that they go ahead with the five thematic areas but added a new thematic area of tourism which they felt could generate enough growth rapidly which could diffuse right across the country to generate jobs and reduce poverty?, he said

Members of the GIAC entered the sixth meeting last Friday with five areas in mind.

They were reforms in the Financial Sector,, labour, land customs and civil service and finally Agriculture and Agri-business.
