Kufuor to host National Honours Award Day

Accra, June 29, GNA – The Annual National Honours Award Day comes off on Friday, June 30 at the Accra International Conference Centre at 1000 hours.

A statement signed by the Press Secretary to the President and Presidential Spokesman, Mr Andrew Awuni said 158 men and women from a broad spectrum of disciplines of national life would be honoured. The statement said June 30 of every year had been set aside by the Government to recognize and honour Ghanaians and non-Ghanaians, who over the years had distinguished themselves in the service of the nation. Among the recipients of the awards are the late Professor Albert Adu Boahen; His Eminence Peter Cardinal Appiah Turkson; Mr Alex Ashiabor; Lieutenant General Albert Ocran and Dr Mohamed Ibn Chambas. Others are Alhaji Asoma Banda; Mr Azuma Nelson; Alhaji Nuhu Sharabutu; Mohammed Polo; Hajia Salamatu Ibrahim Taimako; Mr A.B. Crentil; Mr Jewel Ackah; Mr Frimpong Manson and Ms Dzifa Glikpoi. The statement said President John Agyekum Kufuor would perform the ceremony and also host the recipients at a cocktail party.
