Kufuor returns home from UK and India tour

Accra, Feb 16, GNA – Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has returned home after a two-nation working visit to the UK and India.

A statement signed by the former President’s Spokesman, Mr Frank Agyekum, said In the UK, former President Kufuor was a Special Guest at the launch of the Africa Justice Foundation, founded by Mrs. Cherie Blair, wife of former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair.

The Africa Justice Foundation works with the international business community to support the development of robust justice systems, especially in Africa, through sustainable partnerships between lawyers, the judiciary, academics, civil society and commercial organizations.

Also in the UK, former President Kufuor was the Special Guest at the launch of the 700-year anniversary of Exeter College, University of Oxford, where he is an alumnus. Mr. Kofi Annan, former Secretary-General of the United Nations, was the main speaker at the function.

In New Delhi, India, former President Kufuor co-chaired with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the Vision 2020 global conference of the International Food Policy Research (IFPRI) on 93Leveraging Agriculture for Improving Nutrition and Health.”

The Conference, attended by about 1,000 delegates including ministers, policy makers, academics and non-govern mental organizations, from 65 countries, came out with measures to mainstream adequate and nutritious mea= l for all by the year 2020.

Former President Kufuor was away form about two weeks.
