Accra, Dec. 5, GNA – Former President John Agyekum Kufuor
returned home Saturday night from Geneva, Switzerland, where he
addressed the Governing Council of Interpeace, the world-wide peace
organization backed by the United Nations. A release issued on Sunday and signed by Mr Frank Agyekum,
Spokesperson, said the former president was away for a week. President Kufuor, the first African chair of the Interpeace Council,
presided over the Partners Forum where he interacted with donors and
supporters of the organization. He briefed the media on his stewardship of the organization in the
past year and gave highlights of activities undertaken by the
organization in the 17 countries it operates in Africa, Asia, the Middle
East and Europe. Former President Kufuor also delivered a lecture on “Leadership
for Africa’s Tomorrow,” at the famous Graduate Institute of
International and Development Studies. The Institute trains diplomats dating back to the 1920s and founded
the League of Nations later transformed into the United Nations.
