Kufuor receives message from Liberian President

Accra, Feb. 20 GNA – President John Agyekum Kufuor on Monday granted audience to a special envoy of his Liberian counterpart, Mrs Ellen Sirleaf-Johnson, at the Castle, Osu at which the two of them discussed Liberia’s electricity problems.

The envoy, Mr Ernest C.B. Jones is the Acting Liberian Minister of Lands, Mines and Energy. He is on a mission to discuss the restoration of electricity to his country.

Liberia’s electricity and other infrastructure were shattered by years of ruinous civil war.

He presented to President Kufuor a special message from Mrs Sirleaf-Johnson. The contents were not disclosed but believed to centre on the country’s power problem.

President Kufuor in a brief remark said he was happy to receive the Acting Minister and congratulated him on his nomination. Professor Mike Oquaye, Minister of Energy, and some top ranking officials from the Volta River Authority (VRA), were present.
