Kufuor mourns former NPP treasurer

Cape Coast, Oct. 20, GNA- President John Agyekum Kufuor, on Saturday joined hundreds of mourners at the Christ Cathedral Anglican Church at Cape Coast for the burial service of the late Mr Osborne Henry Kwesi Brew.

The late Mr Brew was the former national treasurer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The President clad in a black cloth and “native sandals” was accompanied by first Lady Madam Theresa Kufuor, a host of Ministers and some presidential aspirants of the New Patriotic Party NPP arrived at the church at 1050 hours to file pass the body before the casket was closed for the church service to begin. The church was filled to capacity with people from all walks of life, including the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Professor John Atta Mills and extra seats were put in place ou tside with giant television sets to carter for those outside the hall. In a sermon, Very Reverend Bishop Emeritus Edmund Yeboah a retired bishop of the Kumasi Anglican Church described the late Mr Brew as a selfless, generous and dedicated person, who served his country and family to the full. He called on the family not to let the death of Mr Brew to divide them but rather come together to complete the projects and programmes he started.

Rev. Yeboah called on Christians not to only concentrate on acquiring earthly things but should lead lives that would grant them eternal and salvation. The later Mr Brew, born in May 1923, was a diplomat, teacher, poet, a politician and the former managing director of Golden Spoon Flour Mills in Tema. He left behind a wife Mrs Elizabeth Brew and two daughters.

The body was interred at Asokyeano public cemetery at Cape Coast. Later Madam Theresa Kufuor and the Central Regional Minister donated GH=A2 5,000.00 (50 million cedis), a carton of schnapps and forty cartons of assorted drinks to the bereaved family.
