Kufuor meets delegation of Catholic Bishops

Accra, Feb. 24, GNA – President John Agyekum Kufuor on Thursday held a closed-door meeting with a nine-member delegation from the Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference (GCBC) at the Castle, Osu.

The Most Reverend Lucas Abadamloora, Bishop of Navrongo/Bolgatanga Diocese and President of the Conference, led the delegation. The Most Reverend Charles Palmer-Buckle, Bishop of Koforidua Diocese and Vice President of the Conference, who briefed newsmen later, said it was a courtesy call to congratulate President Kufuor on his re-election for a second tenure of office.

He said they shared thoughts on their minds with the President, the contribution of the Church in the educational, health and other sectors of the economy.

Most Rev. Palmer-Buckle said: “Because we are leading a large congregation of the people we shared grassroots feelings with the President on the peaceful, spiritual and moral development of the country and shared our experiences with him on what to do for the socio-economic development of the country.”
