Kufuor leaves for Liberia anniversary celebration

Accra, July 26, GNA – President John Agyekum Kufuor left Accra on Wednesday for Monrovia, Liberia, to attend the 159th independence anniversary celebration of Liberia as the special guest of honour. A statement signed by Mr Andrew Awuni, Press Secretary to the President and Presidential Spokesman, said President Kufuor would be joined by the Liberian President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf to inaugurate the Liberian Emergency Power Project built by the Volta River Authority (VRA).

Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and NEPAD accompanied President Kufuor. Several years of civil war have destroyed most utility services in Liberia and VRA has been involved in the restoration of electricity supply to Liberia since Mrs Johnson-Sirleaf was elected President last year.
