Kufuor expresses appreciation to the Netherlands

Accra, June 18, GNA – President John Agyekum Kufuor on Monday conveyed Ghana’s appreciation to the Government of the Netherlands for its support for the country’s school feeding programme. He said the nation was grateful for the co-operation it was getting from the Netherlands in the implementation of the programme to improve on the nutritional status of school children.

President Kufuor was speaking when a delegation of the Almere City, which is in a sister-city relationship with the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), paid a courtesy call on him at the Castle, Osu. Accompanying the delegation, made up of businessmen and Local Government officials was the KMA Chief Executive, Madam Patricia Appiagyei.

President Kufuor noted with satisfaction the co-operation between the two cities in the areas of education, sanitation and revenue collection.

The projects, he noted were critical to the development of the people.

Mrs Anne Marie Jorristma, Mayor of Almere, said the members would encourage businesses in the Netherlands to invest in Ghana.
