Kufuor Exposes NPP’s Bias Against Northerners

It has always been said that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) does not respect dignity of persons from the three Northern Regions. This view seems to have been confirmed by ex-President John Agyekum Kufuor, in a tribute to his late Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama.
Part of former President Kufuor’s tribute read “the late Veep was a Vice President every President will like to have”.
Many Ghanaians were surprised by this aspect of the tribute, because, if indeed, former President Kufuor felt that way about his late Vice President, what stopped him (Kufuor) then, from backing him (Aliu Mahama) during the NPP’s 2007 Presidential primaries, that saw an unprecedented number of people contesting Aliu Mahama.
Insiders have confirmed to The Informer that ex-President John Kufuor did not respect the illustrious contribution of the late Veep, and allowed his Chief of Staff, Kwadwo Okyere Mpiani to behave as more like a Vice President than the late Alhaji Aliu Mahama.
Leading members of the NPP have said that when in 2007, they asked then President Kufuor to openly support his late Vice like ex-President Jerry John Rawlings did to his then Vice, Professor Atta Mills, Mr. Kufuor appeared very angry and intimated that, in the NPP, the highest someone from the three Northern Regions can get to, is Vice President.
