Kufuor denies submitting list of candidates

The office of former President John Agyekum Kufuor has rejected reports that the former President had released names of people he is supporting to win elections at the New Patriotic Party’s National Delegates’ Congress on April 12.

“Former President Kufuor has from the onset of campaigning for the elections maintained his neutrality and stated that he will back winners at the elections,” a statement signed by his spokesperson, Mr. Frank Nana Wadie Agyekum, said.

It said the former President’s position had not changed and allegations about he backing some candidates should be ignored.

Former President Kufuor is in New York attending meetings at the UN in his capacity as UN Special Envoy on Climate Change.

He leaves Tuesday evening for Washington where he will engage with the World Bank and chair the biennial High Level Meeting of the Sanitation and Water for All Partnership of which he is the global chair.

In a message to the NPP Conference before leaving Ghana, Former President Kufuor urged that the elections are conducted above board and in a free and fair manner so as to make the results acceptable to all.

He appealed to the delegates to elect leaders who would work hard to unify the party and win the admiration of all Ghanaians.
