Kufuor denies chiding claim

Former President Kufuor’s office has denied claims that he recently chided the national executives for allowing some of its members to openly lobby for their choice of flagbearer.

Mr. Frank Agyekum told XYZ News there has never been any such meeting between Mr Kufuor and the party.

He said Mr. Kufuor has been out of the country since the Supreme Court pronounced final verdict on the election petition case on August 29.

According to him, the lobbying going on for the twice defeated presidential candidate is not unusual.

He added: “No one has a problem with Nana Addo coming back”, however, he added, that the processes must be gone through in selecting a leader for the 2016 elections rather than impose one on the party.

According to the former President’s spokesman, there were other prospective candidates that were qualified for the job and admonished members to allow the machinery of the party to function fairly.

“If he (Nana) is truly popular enough to run for president again it will show when NPP goes to congress,” he concluded.
