Kufour backs NPP court action- Frank Agyekum

Spokesperson for former President John Agyekum Kufuor, Frank Agyekum has revealed that his boss is in full support of the NPP stance of going to the Supreme Court to test the party’s case of alleged vote stealing in the December 7 polls.

Consequently, he urged the public to disregard such speculations in the media and insisted that the report was fictitious and malicious.

An Accra based tabloid, The Alhaji a few days ago had published that the former president was highly upset at the posturing of the party executives, and has therefore, impressed upon them to halt the court action.

In the estimation of Mr Agyekum, the report was a deliberate ploy to incite supporters of the party against Mr Kufuor.

Speaking to Citi Fm in Accra on Friday, the former deputy minister of information further explained: “President Kufuor has never asked Nana-Addo to concede defeat; in fact he was one of the first persons to say publicly when the AU chairman called on him, he said the same thing to Olusegun Obasanjo we are going to court to prove our case, so there has never been a time President Kufour has told Akufo-Addo to concede defeat, no it is not true”.

Mr Agyekum also believed that his party has sufficient evidence to avert the electoral results.

“We are now waiting on the judges of the superior court to do what we expect them to do; we have no doubt in our minds that if they examine the facts that we have given them as thoroughly as we did they will come to the same conclusion as we did that NPP was denied votes through illegal means,” he stressed.
