KT Hammond has denigrated Parliament – Mawugbe

A Communication specialist Dr. Messan Mawugbe has condemned Adansi Asokwa MP K.T Hammond for using indecent language on the floor of Parliament.

The former deputy Energy Minister verbally assaulted the Majority Leader, Dr. Benjamin Kunbuor during a debate on corruption Wednesday.

Mr. Hammond withdrew his comments and later apologised for his behavior after he was threatened by the Speaker of Parliament to walk him out.

But Dr. Mawugbe in an interview with XYZ News said his conduct casts a slur on the image of the legislature.

“What happened at Parliament was rather unfortunate, especially considering the Parliament as a public sphere which needs to be accorded the highest of respect it deserves.

“I think politicians or members of the legislature are members that are recognized as people or personalities with the highest aspirations of this country and for them to get so deep into such intemperate context are rather unfortunate”.
