K’si ECG explosion: Power to be restored in 48 hours

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Erasmus Kyere Baidu has revealed that power will be restored to Kumasi and various suburbs within 48 hours after several hours of blackout.

According to him, engineers are currently on site working on the affected lines to fix the situation which caught them off guard.

It is estimated that about 70% of the Kumasi metropolis and other parts of the Ashanti Region were plunged into total darkness after a transformer at the Electricity Company of Ghana’s substation ‘A’ in an area called Abinkyi exploded Thursday evening.

Several wires and underground cables were affected resulting in the blackout.

But Mr. Baidu disclosed to Lantam Papanko on the Ultimate Breakfast Show that the situation will be resolved to pave way for residents to enjoy uninterrupted power supply.

Meanwhile power has since been restored to about 50% of the affected areas.
