Krofu community hit by flood

Krofu (C/R), June 8, GNA- A rainstorm has hit Krofu, a farming community, near Mankessim, destroying over 35 mud buildings and rendering about 200 people homeless. Property worth several million cedis were also swept away by flood.

Nana Kwansah II, Chief of the town who briefed Mr Robert Quainoo-Arthur, Mfantseman District Chief Executive, who was at the community to assess the havoc, said some of the displaced people were putting up at his palace, church premises and with relatives and friends.

Nana Kwansah said there was no casualty, a phenomenon he described as the handiwork of God. He stressed: “We are grateful to God for recording no casualty in the disaster”.

Mr Robert Koomson, the Assembly member attributed the cause of the disaster to improper planning of the community and cited the building of houses along waterways. Mr Quainoo-Arthur assured the victims of a relief package from the National Disaster Management Organisation.
