Krofrom chaos: Any indiscipline will be met with force – Kofi Boakye

The Ashanti regional Police Commander DCOP Kofi Boakye has warned the Police will no longer tolerate any act of indiscipline from residents of Krofrom in Kumasi.

The caveat comes after youth of the area hit the streets and blocked roads following an autopsy report which exonerated the police in the death of a 22-year-old man who was arrested in the area last week.

Speaking to Kumasi-based Nhyira FM, the regional commander also accused some journalists of “instigating” the violent conducts of the residents.

“Any indiscipline act will be met with the necessary force. We will not tolerate any act of indiscipline again. Anybody who comes on the streets again will be met with the right amount of force. We know there are some people instigating them, including journalists and we are warning them to desist from such acts. The Police will not allow this to continue. We (Police) are the only body that the law allows to apply force and so we will do what we need to do,” he said.

Meanwhile, the medical doctor who conducted the autopsy has rejected accusations from the family of the deceased that he took a bribe from the Police to compromise the truth.

“The body is there and is not buried. If you feel what I have written you don’t accept it there are other pathologists in Ghana; call them and have a second look at the body. I can’t control the movement of the body, so they have every right to call for a second or third or fifth opinion.

“I have not taken any bribe. Can the police offer me any bribe to doctor the report?” Dr. Osei Sampene of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital queried.
