Kranka to celebrate Dapaamunukuo Yam Festival next month

Kranka (B/A), Sept. 21, GNA – The chiefs and people of Kranka, near Nkoranza in Brong Ahafo will celebrate their annual Dapaamunukuo Yam Festival early next month, Nana Owusu Agyeman, fetish priest in-charge of the Brakune Shrine said at the weekend.

He told Ghana News Agency that the festival is celebrated in honour of the ancestral god, Brakune, which protected the people against satanic spirits.

Nana Agyeman said the occasion would afford thousands of people from all walks of life to come and seek fortune and for protection against evil spirits.

A number of fetish priests and priestesses from in the district and other areas will attend the festival.

The Brakume shrine is said to be a powerful god that overpowers spirits, witches and wizards and gives successes and good fortune to many people.

Nana Agyeman said the people would organize a rally on October 10, the climax of the festival to initiate development programmes.
