Krachi-West endorses DCE

Kete-Krachi, June 21, GNA – Mr Kofi Mensah Demitia, 51, a Human Development Practitioner on Tuesday gained all the 39 votes of the members present at a meeting of the Krachi-West District Assembly to become the new District Chief Executive (DCE). The Krachi-West Assembly has 41 members.

Mr Demetia, who was sworn into office by Mr Kofi Dzamesi, Volta Regional Minister, said he expected that the overwhelming 100 per cent endorsement of his nomination would be translated into support and cooperation to speed up development in the district. He said he would pursue an open door policy by involving all ethnic groups in the district in decision-making. Mr Dzamesi advised Mr Demitia not to work as an “armchair DCE” but would visit hamlets and villages to know their problems at first hand. He called on the people to maintain peace in the area, warning that the government could not continue to spend taxpayer’s monies for peacekeeping.

Government is keeping a detachment of security personnel in the area as a result of the occurrence of clashes between some ethnic groups.
