Kpong Water workers demonstrate over unpaid salaries

Workers of the recently inaugurated Kpong Water Project are demonstrating over delays in the release of their back-pay, StarrFMonline.com has gathered.

The angry workers, according to sources, are seen at the premises of the water company with placards indicating their frustrations over the development.

It is unclear the backlog of salaries they are agitating over.

President Mahama last week inaugurated the Kpong Water Supply Expansion project which has seen the supply of water to some areas in Accra including, Adenta and Madina.

Those areas have not received water in several years. Other areas include Nii Boi Town, Ashaley Botwe, East Legon, Haatso, Dodowa and Dome, all in the Greater Accra region.

The project was financed by the China Export Import Bank and the government of Ghana at a cost of $273 million.
