Kpone-Katamanso NDC elects officers

Kpone, Aug. 19, GNA – The Kpone-Katamanso constituency branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has at a day’s conference, elected its executive to lead the party and organise members towards the country’s 2008 general elections.

Mr Ellis Aferi polled 72 votes as against 33 votes by Mr Seth Dunyon, to become the chairman.

Alhaji Tetteh Cobblah and Mr Samuelson Allange were also elected first and second vice-chairmen, respectively.

Other officers elected included Mr Nelson Charway, secretary, Mr Samuel Nagadzi, organiser and Mr Hopeson Adorye, propaganda secretary. At the Women and Youth conferences last Saturday, Madam Saweratu Mohammed and Mr Joseph Tettey emerged as Women and Youth organisers respectively.

Addressing members after the elections, Mr Miltiades Godfrey Tackey, Greater-Accra First vice-chairman of the party, urged members to close their ranks and plan strategies that would ensure victory in 2008. Mr Joseph Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo, Member of Parliament for the constituency, commended the delegates for their high sense of discipline and comportment throughout the elections and expressed the hope that with the active support of all and sundry, the officers would live up to expectation.

Mr Alfred Kwami Agbesi, MP for Ashaiman, reiterated the call on members of the party to avoid petty squabbles and divisive tendencies and remain united as one family.

Mr Aferi pledged the preparedness of the executives to serve with humility and dedication to move the party forward.
