Kpodo gives to Ho Prisons and others

Mr Benjamin Kpodo, Member of Parliament for Ho Central on Monday presented bags of rice, cartons of cooking oil and canned fish to inmates of the Ho Central Prisons.

He also presented the same items to cured lepers at the Ho Leprosarium and children at the Evangelical Presbyterian Youth Rehabilitation Centre at Taviefe-Deme, near Ho.

Mr Kpodo said the presentations were to mark the Christmas and New Year festive occasions and to complement government’s effort at reaching the less privileged.

He said government was on course in providing social interventions to improve the living standards of the underprivileged and called for support from the people.

Mr Kpodo said the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme was making positive impacts on beneficiaries and was hopeful other intervention programmes to be enrolled in 2016 would further improve living standards.

Ms Olivia Ackuaku, Director at the Rehabilitation Centre expressed appreciation to Mr Kpodo for the gesture and said the donation to the Centre was timely.

She said about 23 young men at the Centre still go to the central market to help people with their luggage for money to take care of themselves.

Ms Ackuaku said the Centre could not feed all 48 children due to inadequate resources and called for support.

She said the street project was able to enroll 15 children in formal education and 10 in vocational training institutes.
