Ghana’s Supreme Court resumes sitting on the election petition case today after going on a week’s adjournment.
The Court went on a 10-day recess pending the presentation of the final report by international accounting firm KPMG, which audited exhibits tendered in evidence by the Petitioners.
The audit was ordered by the nine-member bench at the behest of Mr. Tsatsu Tsikata, Lead Counsel for the governing National Democratic Congress.
There has been controversy, both in and out of court, over the number of election result slips or pink sheets tendered in evidence.
While the petitioners insist they submitted 11, 842 pink sheets, the respondents claim the evidence tendered fell short by about 2000 sheets.
That controversy is expected to be put to rest today, Monday June 24, 2013 as the hearing resumes.
The Lead Counsel for the petitioners, Philip Addison, is expected to continue his cross-examination of the Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan.
