Kotoko’s New Boss Sees Positive Shift Ahead of Clash with High-Flying Gold Stars

Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s new head coach, Abdul Karim Zito, is already making waves at the helm of the Porcupine Warriors, and he couldn’t be more pleased with how quickly his players are adapting to his footballing philosophy.

Speaking ahead of a crucial Ghana Premier League showdown against the in-form Bibiani Gold Stars on Sunday, May 25, Zito expressed confidence and optimism despite the tough challenge that lies ahead.

“I think they are responding very well to the dynamics of the game,” Zito shared. “I am a new coach…and I like their attitude of learning. I am very happy they are coping with the way I want them to play. They are doing their best and I’m very happy they are playing like that.”

Zito took over the reins from Dr. Prosper Ogum following a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Nations FC. Since then, he’s wasted no time in reshaping the team’s mindset and approach, results are already trickling in. Under his leadership, Kotoko has gone unbeaten in their last three league matches, with two wins and a draw to their name.

However, Sunday’s game won’t be a walk in the park. Kotoko travels to the formidable Dun’s Park to face a Gold Stars side currently sitting second on the table, while Kotoko trail just behind in fourth. The stakes couldn’t be higher, and Zito knows the terrain only adds to the difficulty.

“Playing at Dun’s Park always adds pressure,” he admitted. “But we are ready to fight for every point.”

With momentum building and the squad buying into his vision, Zito is quietly building something special at Kotoko. The fans can only hope this renewed energy translates into a strong finish to the season, and maybe, just maybe, a title charge.
