Korsah denies dealings with CASHPRO

THE former Metropolitan Chief Executive of the Shama Ahanta East Metropolitan Assembly (SAEMA), Col Kaku Korsah (rtd), has denied allegations that the assembly granted CASHPRO an amount of ?40 million.

He described the allegations which were made by the Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Capt Nkrabea Effah-Dartey (rtd), at a press conference in Accra on Monday as baseless, unfounded and a fabrication calculated to injure his hard won reputation.

Capt. Effah-Dartey explained at the press conference that the findings were contained in an interim audit report that cleared 17 former DCEs.

Col Korsah said at no time did SAEMA transact any financial dealing with CASHPRO, nor CASHPRO benefit from the assembly’s Poverty Alleviation Fund.

He has, therefore, challenged the Deputy Minister to quote the page and paragraph of the interim report on SAEMA.

According to Col Korsah, he finds the purported audited report on SAEMA suspicious since the auditors failed to raise a query on the alleged CASHPRO transactions during the auditing.

He said the former presiding member of SAEMA, who was the chairman of the Poverty Alleviation Fund, was also not questioned during the auditing.

Col. Korsah stressed that public officials need to respect the truth and avoid dirty tactics of attacking political opponents. He added that the misrepresentation of facts “is to deny me my well deserved benefits”.

He said he suspects that the calculated pack of lies is also meant to destroy his image and prevent him from signing an agreement he finalised with the City of Boston in the USA, while in office.

He said it is strange that the interim report on SAEMA, which initially exonerated him from any adverse findings, has surprisingly been “doctored” to make him a villain.
