Korle-Bu To Get New Emergency Ward – Pumpuni

Accra (GAR), July 3, Management of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital has started negotiations towards the construction of a new Emergency and Accident Ward. Architects have been invited to discuss the project to be sited at the Indadfa Park at Korle-Bu, which is easily accessible. Air Commodore K. K. Pumpuni, Chief Administrator, said this in Accra today when he received 3.2 million cedis from the Ghana Actors Guild to help equip the old one which is operating under very deplorable conditions. The Accident and Emergency Ward which is always congested lacks basic facilities and equipment such as beds, trolleys, oxygen flow metres and suction machines. The money was raised through a sponsored walk in response to a programme launched by Vibe FM to generate 100 million cedis to improve conditions at the centre. Air Cdre Pumpuni said the project which will take off by the end of the year will have many facilities, including X’ray and laundry departments. He said the government has commissioned some Japanese consultants to assess the Children and Medical blocks for rehabilitation.
