Korle Bu surgery department to be closed down

The Korle Bu Teaching hospital says its surgery department will be forced to close down if the strike by government pharmacists persists.

Director of Medical Affairs at the Korle-bu Teaching Hospital, Professor Afua Hesse, told XYZ News that the strike is having a telling toll on the performance of surgeries at the hospital.

The Government and Hospital Pharmacists Association has been on strike since Tuesday over salary concerns.

A visit by XYZ News to the Korle-bu Teaching Hospital on Friday, revealed that some patients on admission can’t get access to drugs due to the strike.

Professor Afua Hesse stated that if the strike prolongs, emergency surgeries at the hospital will also be seriously affected.
