Korle Bu shuts down surgical wards

Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has suspended operations at three surgical clinics, a statement has said.

The suspension takes effect from Monday, February 8, the statement signed by Public Relations Officer Mustapha Salifu pointed out.

The three clinics under the Department of Surgery to be affected are Urology Clinic, General Surgery Clinic and Neurosurgery Clinic.

“This is to allow for work to be completed in some of our theaters and recovery wards at the Department of Surgery that are being rehabilitated and re-equipped to improve the quality of care.”

Emergency cases will, however, be attended to “after prior arrangements are made in respect of such cases”.

Non-emergency cases have been referred to other hospitals within the metropolis.

“It is hoped that all stakeholders will work together to speedily complete all outstanding works to enable us resume normal operations.”
