Korle Bu sacks four top officials over GHc900,000 fraud

The Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has relieved four of its top officials of their duties over the financial scandal that hit the hospital’s pharmacy last year.

The affected staff are Elizabeth Bruce, Director of Pharmacy, Eric Kwaku Kyei, Principal Pharmacist/ Pharmacy Manager, Augustina Dankyi, Pharmacy Accountant and Daniel Eledi, Stores Assistant.

The move comes after a forensic audit commissioned by the health ministry in 2014 revealed that an amount of GHC946,574.29 could not be accounted for from sales and revenue at the 24- Hour Pharmacy of the hospital.

A statement issued by the hospital Thursday said the board met on Wednesday June 17, and took the decision to dismiss them.
