Korle-Bu Hospital suspends MRI services

Accra, Jan. 17, GNA – The Korle-bu Teaching Hospital has suspended its Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) services to the public to pave way for routine maintenance works.

Mr Mustapha Salifu, Public Relations Officer of the hospital, who announced this in a press statement issued in Accra on Tuesday, said the public would be informed when work was completed on the machine.

He stated that the hospital had liaised with other MRI service providers in the Metropolis to offer assistance to patients who required such services.

Meanwhile, the hospital has received Respiratory Care Equipment worth, $10,000 from a United States based Respiratory Therapist, Mr Kwame Ahelegbe, to help treat respiratory related diseases for patients.

Mr Ahelegbe, said he saw the need to assist the hospital during a visit to the country last year, and therefore solicited support from members of the Ghana Association of Minnesota (GhanAM) and some companies from the US to help address the needs of the health facility.

Dr Philip Amoo, Head of Public Health, Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, receiving the equipment on behalf of management expressed appreciation for the gesture; and called for more individuals and organisations to support the hospital.

Some of the equipment included, Nebulizer Machine( with 115V-60HZ connection), 10 Arterial Blood Gas(ABG) Kits and needles, Ambu Bags for resuscitation, Optic Chamber, Nasal Cannula and Spacer.
