Korle-Bu Eye Centre re-opened

Management of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital has announced that the mega health post’s Eye Centre has been re-opened to the general public.

The hospital’s Public Relations Officer, Mustapha Salifu, who revealed this on Thursday September 1, said in a statement that “the hospital has successfully upgraded the ventilation and cooling system at the centre”.

The statement said the upgrade would enhance the working environment and safety of both staff and patients.

It would be recalled that the Eye Clinic at Ghana’s premier health centre was closed down on March 7, 2016 following a statement signed by the head of the unit, Dr Edith Dogbe, on February 29, 2016.

Dr Dogbe said the closure became necessary “following several concerns regarding excessive heat at the Eye Clinic”.

She said the heat caused some patients to collapse. Staff had also complained about discomfort which frustrated their service delivery to patients.
