Korle Bu denies “misleading” NHIS story by The Finder

The management of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital is rebutting claims that National Health Insurance beneficiaries are being denied access to drugs at the hospital’s main pharmacy.

The Finder Newspaper reported on Tuesday that patients on the NHIS list were being turned away at the hospital’s main pharmacy.

Public Relations Officer, Mustapha Salifu however told XYZ News the authorities had to briefly suspend the administration of drugs to in-patients to facilitate the installation of a software to enhance easy tracking of drug delivery.

He regrets the headline to the Finder Newspaper’s story, which read “Korle-Bu Rejects NHIS cards” was misleading.

“It is not true that NHIS is not working Korle-Bu. We have a challenge at the pharmacy department in respect of serving in-patients. We are not able to trace patients who move from one place to the other,” he explained.

He said the out-patients are however served by the pharmacy department despite the bottleneck.
