‘Koobi’ sellers to sue minister

Sellers of salted fish (koobi) at Yeji in the Pru District of the Brong Ahafo have threatened to sue the Minister of Environment Science and Technology, over his claim that, koobi sellers use formalin to preserve their fish.

According to the sellers, since the pronouncement by the sector Minister, Professor Kwabena Frimpong Boateng, their business had been affected badly.

The koobi sellers also did not know what the future holds for them as their business was gradually going down.

“Our customers from Sunyani, Kumasi and Accra are no longer patronising koobi, because when they buy and send to their respective destinations, people do not buy”

Leader of the salted fish sellers at Yeji, Mrs. Juliana Gidisu said, “what the minister said is not true. I have not seen such a medicine before. Where are we going to get such medicine from? From the mortuary or the market. He just wants to destroy our market. We want him to come on radio and TV to retract what he said or we would sue him.”
