Konkomba/Bimoba clashes (Update) : Security man wounded

Following renewed clashes between Konkombas and Bimobas in Timali on Wednesday, reports indicate that one policeman got wounded in the process of trying to maintain law and order.

Hundreds of residents who fled the community sought refuge in Nakpanduri Township.

The cause of the renewed clashes is yet to be established but it is suspected to be the age long protracted land dispute between Konkombas and Bimobas.

Headmaster for the Nakpanduri Senior High School, Chief Kipo Harrison Salifu hinted that some of his students from far away sought refuge at the bungalow.

He regretted the resurrection of such calamity at a time final year students were busily preparing for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

Chief Kipo appealed to the Combatants to cease fire and co-exists peacefully.

Meanwhile, the Assemblyman for Nakpanduri central, Nyunmon Konlan accused the security personnel there of taking sides.

He insinuated that they raided homes of Bimobas and were beating them mercilessly.

Mr. Konlan entreated the Bunkprugu-Yunyo District Chief executive to call the security personnel to order.

He said relative calm had returned to the area with the anticipation that an amicable solution will be found to the problem.
