Konadu would be declared “wanted”

A group of National Democratic Congress (NDC) activists, claiming to be foot soldiers of the ruling party, and who have started a campaign to put forward former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, as presidential candidate for the party, have threatened to end her political career if she refuses to contest for the NDC presidential primaries.

Speaking on CitiFM’s Eyewitness News, a spokesperson for the group who gave his name as Amamu said, they will declare Mrs. Rawlings persona non-grata and politically wanted if she dare refuse to contest for the presidency.

He warned that Mrs. Rawlings and her family would have to pack their bag and baggage and leave the country if she makes a decision which goes contrary to their wishes.

“Nana Konadu and her family must pack their bag and baggage and leave the country because we are going to declare her politically wanted in this country if she refuses to contest for the presidency,” he swore.

An emotionally charged Mr. Amamu was emphatic that after going to every length to prop Mrs. Rawlings up, the group will stop at nothing in compelling their favourite political figure to contest the NDC presidential primaries.

“We are not going to stop even if she comes out to say she will not contest. We are going to push her to contest because we have printed her T- Shirts, posters and banners and what is left to be made is her billboards which we are in the process (of erecting),” he noted.

He openly threatened that the group will attack and end the political career of the former First Lady if she refuses to contest for the presidency, adding that they will bar her from appearing on any political platform to campaign on behalf of anybody in the NDC.

“We are going to attack her and we will not allow her to stand on any political platform to campaign for any NDC member,” he added.
